Once an ancient fishing village with a population of 175, San Jose has recently become a tourist attraction. Situated in a Natural Park, it overlooks a wide sheltered, sandy bay – the village itself has sandy streets – and is within walking distance of other peaceful beaches and coves.
It now boasts two harbours; its old fishing port and a new yachting marina and area for water sports. At the information centre, you can find out about walking, horse-trekking and mountain biking in the Natural Park.
